Colerne RFC are pleased to announce that the RFU have now provided the agreement paperwork for the loan application of £50,000 by the club to help fund the new match floodlights. This took 7 months longer than was envisaged by the RFU due to the detail the Government wanted to apply however we should have the funds in the bank in the next month. The club has completed the Incorporation process and Colerne Rugby Football Club Limited is now in existence however work is still to be completed on VAT registration and getting the new company CASC registered. Planing permission has already been granted for the installation of 6 number 15 metre high columns with floodlights giving an illumination of between 250 and 270 lux. This will enable us to play evening matches and the lighting levels are suitable for many leagues higher than the one we are currently in. A formal contract has now been placed with Highlights Floodlighting and the current timeline for construction is that the groundworks will be completed during the week of 6th June to include trenching, cableing and Column foundations with the Column and lighting installation currently programmed for week commencing 25th July. The gap is due to the current delivery wait for floodlight units. We should therefore be in a position to play any midweek pre season friendlies under lights. This huge upgrade in our playing offer at Higgins Field does come at a cost as this is a loan not a grant. We will be required to make a loan interest repayment of around £2,000 24 months after the loan is made and for the next 96 months ( 8 years ) we will have to make a monthly repayment of £564. We will have to generate the funds required over the next few years.
